Opening

The meeting was opened by the President, Clayton (VE3IRR) at 19:07. One visitor was in attendance (VA3SIO).

Secretary’s Report

Randy (VE3AX) introduced the minutes of the October meetings as posted on the WCARC website. Peter (VA3PJ) noted that the balloon did not carry a 50kW transmitter. It was in fact a ground based transmitter. Doug (VE3XK) asked that the wording about the interference be changed to show that the issue was not because of an FM transmitter but it was in fact the close proximity of an FM receiver to the becaon transmitter which caused it to be overloaded. Moved by the Secretary that the minutes be adopted as amended. Seconded by Robert (VE3BE). The motion was carried.

Treasurer’s Report

Robert (VE3BE) reported 27 paid up members for 2019 and a bank balance of $1,400.61. There is also $2,000 which is split up into 2 term deposits which will be maturing in 2020.

Vice President’s Report

Jeremy explained that the speaker for the night could not make it. He will try to reschedule for January. He talked about the change of venues due to electrical issues at the Fringewood Community Center. The December meeting should be back at Fringewood.

Director’s Report

Nil.

President’s Report

Clayton (VE3IRR) mentioned that the next meeting would be the annual general meeting. Three positions on the executive will be open at the next meeting: President, Secretary & Director. He also announced that he would be stepping down as President at the end of the year.

Doug (VE3XK) reported that the beacons are all functioning well.

Broadband Hamnet

Glenn (VE3XRA) announced that Kemptville members are now connecting to the mesh via an Internet gateway.

New Business

Jeremy (VA3ZTF) announced that the VE2CRA repeater was off the air.

After presenting the projected 2020 budget Jeremy presented a motion of raising the dues from 25 to 30 dollars per year. Seconded by Chris (VE2MW). The motion was carried.

After a brief discussion Jeremy presented a motion to accept the 2020 budget. Seconded by Randy (VE3AX). The motion was carried.

Announcements / Show & Tell

  • Wayne (VE3CZO) showed a power supply and a laser communication kit.
  • Randy (VE3AX) announced that a club member – Rene (VE2UG) made his first contacts on 1296 MHz EME.
  • Glenn (VE3XRA) talked about a meeting in Peru where he met Al Penney, who was a past club president. He also talked about a review that will be done for the 2m & 70cm band plans. He gave an update on the WARC meeting in Egypt.
