Opening

The meeting was opened by the President, Clayton Smith (VE3IRR) at 19:03 hours. Two visitors were in attendance.

Secretary’s Report

Randy (VE3AX) introduced the minutes of the March meeting as posted on the WCARC website. Moved by the Secretary that the minutes be adopted as posted. Seconded by Glenn (VE3XRA). The motion was carried.

Treasurer’s Report

Robert (VE3BE) reported 23 paid up members and a bank balance of $276.95 plus the $3,058 term deposit. The term deposit expires April 21 and will be split up.

Vice President’s Report

The Vice-President Jeremy (VA3ZTF) mentioned a trip to the arctic to try to operate a ham radio station there. He also asked that a list of all of the borrowed equipment be made for the June contest.

President’s Report

Clayton (VE3IRR) has started the preparations for the June contest. The community centre has been reserved. He inquired on who will be available to operate and help with setup and tear-down.

Ron Schwartz (VE3VN) gave a presentation on Chasing 6M DXCC using FT8.

Reports / Project Updates

Beacons

Doug (VE3XK) reported that he is ready to test the 6m beacon which doesn’t seem to have much output. Bert (VE2ZAZ) reported that the 2m WSPR beacon is working fine.

D-STAR

Nil.

Broadband Hamnet

No new updates.

New Business

Doug (VE3XK) showed 2 low pass filters for 6m & 2m that he made to make sure there were no issues operating those 2 bands in close proximity to each other during the June contest. He asked if the club was willing to pick up the cost of both filters. The total cost is $197.

After a lengthy discussion the executive deferred to the membership for a vote on the matter. Bert (VE2ZAZ) presented a motion that the club pay the cost of the filters. The motion was seconded by Nick (VE3OWV). The motion was carried.
