Opening:
The meeting was opened by President Al Penney (VO1NO) at 19:30 hours.
The President welcomed two guests.

Dave Goodwin (VE3AAQ) has just returned from a 2 year stay in China. While there he managed to operate from a variety of Asian locations including China and Singapore. Although not yet a member of WCARC he intends to change that!

Shelley Jones Penney, XYL of WCARC President, Al Penney, accompanied him to the meeting.


Secretary's Report:
In the absence of the Secretary, Glenn MacDonell (VE3XRA) the minutes of the previous meeting were introduced by the President, Al Penney.
Moved by Doug Leach (VE3XK) that the minutes be approved and published on the the WCARC website. Seconded by Graham Ide (VE3BYT).
Motion approved.


Treasurer's Report:
In the absence of the Treasurer, the President reported that the financial situation of the club had not changed significantly since the last meeting.


Vice President's Report:
The Vice President reported that meeting room bookings continue to be an adventure. Sobey's is still using the old booking calendar, so our reservations until December are still listed on an attached piece of paper. However we do have the meeting room.

General Report and Announcements:

Beacons
Doug Leach (VE3XK) reported that the WCARC beacons continue to operate with no problems.

Grid Expedition
The President reported that he had been contacted by Dana VE3KH who requested a description of the club's recent Grid Expedition for his VHF column in TCA. He reported that he has provided it and noted to members that the original draft was modified to protect club "trade secrets"!

Contest Club Ontario
The CCO Annual BBQ takes place August 25 at the QTH of VE3EJ, Grassie (see Grimsby), ON. The Newmarket Hamfest is the same day.

Ottawa Hamfest
The Hamfest takes place as usual in Carp - this year on Saturday, September 8th. WCARC will have a table.

Presentations
Al Penney (VO1NO) delivered a presentation on NVIS (Near Vertical Incidence Skywave) based on a presentation developed by G3LEQ.
Andy Hart (VE3NVK) gave us a short presentation on the Raspberry Pi computer used for a variety of projects including state-of-the-art DIY D-STAR repeaters or hot spots.
