Minutes of the Meeting of October 7, 2008
The meeting was held in the employees locker room on the 2nd floor of Sobey's in Kanata.

Al, VO1NO/VE3 called the meeting to order at 19:20 hrs and requested guests, and then all members to introduce themselves.
Reports
Doug, VE3XK, Vice President had no report.
Ken, VA3KA, Treasurer, no report.
Barney, VA3BGB, Secretary, moved that the minutes of the 10 September meeting be accepted as published. Graham VE3BYT seconded the motion and the motion was passed.
Old Business
Beacon Report
Doug, VE3XK reported that Sean Huntley VE3HXP had informed him that he had discovered that the modification of the available radio for use as a 2m beacon was not technically possible. Doug mentioned that all other hardware has been prepared for installation and is concerned that winter conditions would soon interfere with the installation still requiring a 2m beacon. Much discussion ensued with six members offering to provide donations toward the purchase of the necessary hamtronics components with Al VO1NO/VE3 offering to cover any remaining costs.
Balloon Project
Graham, VE3BYT reported that very few people have become involved. The group has acquired an ATV transmitter with much remaining to be done prior to launch which is planned for mid November.

Rick, VE3CVG - no report
Webmaster
Rick VE3CVG is continuing his efforts toward the transfer of the clubs website domain name. Rick is working with Manfred to accomplish this transfer. The constitution is now available on the website.
Events
Al VO1NO/VE3 informed the meeting of several contests in the recent past and imminent future. Specific arrangements were made between those attending Nearfest near Manchester New Hampshire.
New Business

Presentation
Al, VO1NO/VE3 introduced Bertrand Zauhar VE2ZAZ who conducted his presentation on EME, Earth Moon Earth operations. Al VO1NO/VE3 made note of his appreciation of Berts sound effects. Bert will provide his presentation to Rick VE3CVG for placement onto the club website. Al, VO1NO/VE3 thanked Bert for a very informative and interesting presentation, including the EME sound effects.
